When it is time to install a new restroom sink, you will be stunned by the number of distinctive choices available. There are so many styles, colors, and materials. Choose carefully, because the sink is a centerpiece in the restroom. You not only need to think what kind of appearance you want to achieve, but moreover how practical you would like your sink to be.

The top mount, or drop in type is the most used style of sink. These are basic looking and very practical as they clear up a lot of counter space. As commonplace as they are, they are difficult to put in because they normally require that you purchase and install a counter which will accommodate the dimensions of the sink. Yes, you can just use the old counter and put in a new sink. However, that's not really remodeling is it?

Opposite of a drop in sink is an undermount sink. Rather than dropping them into the counter, you must install the counter over the sink. The sink is kept up with adhesives and screws. They give a sleeker look compared to their top mount counterparts because the surface is all counter and zero sink. It won't matter if your caulking gets old and grimy because it will be out of sight.

A growing number of home owners are using vessel sinks. In these types of sinks, the sink bowl is placed on top of your counter, the bottom of it funneling through a small hole for the drain. Since drains are quite standard in size, vessel sinks are very easy to install and switch. And since the bowls are available in all sorts of varieties, you can easily find one to go with any theme that you want.

Pedestal sinks are excellent when you have a smaller, or rustic themed restroom. The sink bowl sits on top a long, narrow base. They are typically made from one piece, namely marble or porcelain. Although they clear up lots of space inside the bathroom, they don't allow for lots of space to set things on top.

Console sinks are another alternative for smaller bathrooms. The sink bowl is affixed to a counter, which is affixed to the wall at the back. They are held up by two or more legs. They do not have a cabinet underneath, leaving lots of clear space. That helps make the restroom look bigger, and are a good location to keep a storage cart.

Wall mounted sinks, as the name implies, attach to the wall. These are the ultimate space saver and make for a really contemporary appearance. They don't have support underneath and the only things keeping them afloat are adhesives and wall fasteners. These are most appropriate for smaller sinks, and consequently smaller bathrooms. However, I have seen quite large wall mounting sinks installed successfully, although it is rare. The fixture is rather delicate so I don't advise that you install them if you reside with small children.
Author Resource:- Regardless of how good your sink looks, it won't look as good as it could be without nice faucets. I highly suggest that you use an oil rubbed bronze bathroom faucet assembly. They last for several years, and command an ageless exquisiteness that cannot be replicated by any other style of faucet. Go to http://oilrubbedbronzebathroomfaucet.org for more information.
